The symbol of the watermelon for Palestinian resistance has existed since the Palestinian flag was banned by the Israeli State in 1967 and lives on to this present day. The colors of red, green, and black can be found in both the fruit and the flag. This powerful symbol has been used as a subtle yet profound act of demonstrating resistance and solidarity with Palestinians throughout times of censorship and oppression. Palestinians can not be erased: the seeds of resistance exist in our nature. We must continue to grow these seeds of resistance by using our voices to speak out against the genocide of Palestinians in any way we can. From protest to the use of symbols, each slice of resistance contributes to the formulation of a holistic movement that fights for a Free Palestine.
